Happened to delve deep into JFK’s life, his influence on American & World Politics, his personality traits, controversies, speeches, decision, career recently.
It so happened I started watching ‘Jackie’ Movie as I was fascinated with Natalie Portman playing a historical character & winning accolades for the same. I got very fascinated with the way Jackie spoke as it seemed too caricaturist hence I saw some videos to be sure that she really spoke like that. I was also awed by the way she conducted herself post the now famous JFK assassination.
To my mind, it showed a kind of Paradox with a lady who was so petite & soft spoken but took some real hard decisions & never for a moment lost her composure.
So I started watching more videos & reading more about her & JFK – got sucked into the whole whirlwind more & more. Starting with Jackie, it was JFK who now blew my mind away with the sheer dynamism of his personality.
Am no scholar of American Political History but from my preliminary knowledge, I can arguably say that JFK was single most influential political leader who happened to come into American Politics & left a huge impact to it plus World Politics. He made Politics more appealing & respectable after Abraham Lincoln & Franklin Roosevelt.
Be it the way he ran the whole campaign (Very visual, Democratic, Media Friendly) or the credentials he carried as WWII Hero or his classic speeches or the whole Youthful Energy he got or the whole Global Political Arena he could create with a simple address of “Ask not what your country can do for you, Ask what you do for your Country”.
Another viewpoint can be that may be was fed with a silver spoon since Kennedies were already very popular & influential with assets expanding wide & deep. Still you can’t take away from the man that JFK was himself – he could inspire a generation with his words & charisma. He could give you Hope & Optimism, during those times & even now & always that is something always cherished.
Am definitely feeling richer after having learnt so much from Jack & Jackie – both of them Iconic in their own rights!
